Sousedei Ch'nom T'mai

That means happy new year in Khmer, and a foreigner can create a hundred smiles by saying it aloud in the middle of a remote village. I just returned from four days in the country with my buddhist brother Eson. Any attempt to describe how great that experience was would be inadequate. Unfortunately I'm leaving Phnom Penh right now, so I'll have to wait until tonight to post a full entry. There is a chance that there will be no internet access after today, so if you don't hear from me for ten days or so, don't worry. Or maybe worry a little bit, but don't call the white house or anything.

So many literary references in the comments here...I guess everyone is a critic, or a frustrated writer.

But I can find neither tales of people 60 feet or 6 inches tall (Swift), nor a focus on the suffering of being (Beckett).

However...to help the transition from travel blog to the blockbuster we’re all waiting for, I think you should channel Jacquelin Susann.

e.g.

--You have been astride a "gay Marine" (your words, not mine) across the breadth of a good part of SE Asia

--You’ve made your bed in what is nothing more than a bordello, and we’re not talking “Best Little Whorehouse...”

--Alcohol is clearly a primary focus, at least to beat the ever-present heat

and then there’s “Happy Pizza.”

All the material’s there, and more.

I’ll buy it in hardback.

‘Cause I wish I were there, too. You go!
